PASTOR’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

This coming Sunday is the Third Sunday of Advent.  The gospel for this worship service on December 15th is Luke 3:7-18 and Pastor Hout’s sermon theme will be “Exhortations.”  Join us for Sunday worship services at 10:30 (led by the pipe organ) and noon (led by guitar).  We also have Sunday School at 9am each week.  You are invited to join us as we learn about ourselves and God.

The Prayers of the Church  We pray for the family and friends of John Rahrick.  He died this past weekend and his wife Brenda is in rehabilitation for a broken hip.  It has been a hard time for that family and our prayers are with them.  We continue to pray for Pat Muller, Bill Jackle, Hank Dodson, Katie Schultz and family, Lois Masters, Carl Schroeder, Darleen Payne, Jean Hicks, Jeff Spencer, Wyatt Dahlinghaus and Frankie Rost.  It has been great to have Shannon (Quinn) Thompson and family in worship along with their new little baby Quinn.  She is child number four!!!  It was also great to have Grace (Steingass) Fugett in worship with her newborn child named Paisley.  We continue to pray for our military men Steven Greenlee, Zac Boyd, Alex Eanes and Ben Sweeney.  Also, let there be peace on earth.

Our Prayer of the Day - Third Sunday of Advent  Stir up the wills of your faithful people, Lord God, and open our ears to the preaching of John, that, rejoicing in your salvation, we may bring forth the fruits of reprentance; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.

The Holiday Fest weekend was nice  We had a unit in the parade and also a big bazzar in our fellowship hall.  The great ending to a fine weekend was a magic show by our good neighbor the amazing Larry Taylor.  Our hall was packed with people to watch his fantastic skills.

Go Triangles  How fun it was to remember the birthday of George “Hobby” Kinderdine who played for the Dayton Triangles and kicked the first extra point in the NFL.  Two of his old jerseys were even with us for worship services.  The Historical Society had a wonderful exhibit recently and the Dayton Daily News printed a nice article about Hobby which included some talk about good old St. Jacob!!!

Some scripture from the gospel for Sunday - Luke 3:18 “So, with many other exhortations he proclaimed the good news to the people.”

Love is perhaps the only glimpse we are permitted of eternity.

So there is still time.......love galore in 2024.
