PASTOR’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

This coming Sunday is the 4th Sunday after Pentecost.  The gospel for the worship service on June 21st is Matthew 10:24-39 and Pastor Hout’s sermon theme will be “Finding Life.”  Join us for Sunday worship services at 10:30 (led by the pipe organ) and noon (led by guitar).  We also have Sunday School at 9am each week.  You are invited to join us as we learn about ourselves and God.

Our recent Talent Show was terrific  We had a good time and shared a lot of talent.  Many thanks to all who participated.  The food was yummy and the acts were funny.  We say big thank yous to those with serious acts like Hazel Bruns, Olivia Gore, Cameron Reed, Lisa Boyd and Evan Jackle.  Pastor Hout says thanks to David Gore for his amazing rhythm stick work on their duet.  We also loved seeing the art work of Isla Jackle and the fantastic sewing of Laura Gore.

The Prayers of the Church  We pray for the family and friends of Lee Kash, Mary Wagner and Darleen Payne.  Their memorial services were held recently.  We are  celebrating that Sidney Wagner is driving again and preparing to play the organ for us once again.  Big thanks go to Evan Jackle who has been filling in for her.  We are also happy to see Nancy Allikas and Allen Hasken getting stronger.  Others in our prayers include Paul Schultz, Carl Schroeder, Steve Kash, Jean Hicks, Bill Jackle, Katie Schultz and family, Frankie Rost, Lois Masters, Helen Termuhlen, and  Wyatt Dahlinghaus.  We are praying hard for peace and give thanks for our peacemakers Alex Eanes, Steven Greenlee, Ben Sweeney and Zac Boyd.

Our Prayer of the Day - 4th Sunday after Pentecost  Teach us, good Lord God, to serve you as you deserve, to give and not to count the cost, to fight and not to heed the wounds, to toil and not to seek for rest, to labor and not to ask for reward, except that of knowing that we do your will, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.  Amen.

Easter Sunday was great and also Holy Hilarity Sunday and Pentecost  We have finished the Easter Season and now are in the long season of Pentecost.  But we never want to forget that He has risen.....he has risen, indeed!!!

Go Triangles  How fun it is to share some of our amazing history.  Just this past Sunday we were able to talk to a visitor about George “Hobby” Kinderdine.  He was surprised to hear of this Dayton Triangle great who kicked the first extra point in the NFL.  Some of his old jerseys have even been with us for worship services on his birthday.  The Historical Society had a wonderful exhibit about him and the Dayton Daily News printed a nice article about Hobby which included some talk about good old St. Jacob!!!

Some scripture from the gospel for Sunday-Matthew 10:39  “Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.”

Love is perhaps the only glimpse we are permitted of eternity.

May you enjoy lots of love in this new year of 2026.
